Hello, I am Michael Woodward, a San Diego-based visual artist driven by a lifelong passion for creative exploration. After a period away from art (having stepped away from freelance graphic design), my artistic journey reignited in 2018 with an exploration of abstraction, acrylics, and mixed media. A pivotal moment arrived during the 2020 lockdown, inspiring me to integrate figurative sketches and collage, adding layers of emotional resonance to my abstract works. This period also saw the establishment of my first studio, the intimate (8'x8') studio in Barrio Logan, where the name 8x8 Studio was born! By 2022, my artistic vocabulary expanded further to encompass fabric sculpting and textile art, leading me to my current studio space here within the dynamic Escondido Arts Partnership in 2023.
